Trim Audio Online

Cut a clip down to just the part you need — drag, preview, and export. Free and private.

Cut audio without installing anything

Whether you are making a ringtone, grabbing a sample, removing dead air from a recording or cutting an intro, trimming is the most common audio edit there is. This Audio Optimizer lets you do it visually in the browser — drag two handles across the waveform to set the start and end, press play to check, and export only the selected region.

Because everything runs locally, your file is never uploaded. It works offline once the page loads and is safe for private recordings. You can export the trimmed clip as a small MP3 or a lossless WAV.

Trimming is also the simplest way to make a file smaller: less audio means fewer kilobytes, with no quality trade-off on the part you keep.

Step by step

  1. Drop your audio onto the upload area or click to browse.
  2. Drag the left handle to the start and the right handle to the end of the part you want.
  3. Press play to preview just your selection — it loops within the handles.
  4. Choose an output format: MP3 for a small file or WAV for lossless.
  5. Click Optimize & download to save the trimmed clip.

Tips

  • Removing silence at the start and end is a free way to shrink a file with zero quality loss.
  • Click anywhere on the waveform to move the playhead and find the exact cut point.
  • Export as MP3 if you also want to compress; choose WAV to keep the trimmed audio lossless.
  • For ringtones, keep the clip short (under ~30 seconds) and export as MP3.
  • Need to keep two separate parts? Trim and export once, then reload and trim the second part.

Frequently asked questions

Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
No. Trimming and exporting happen entirely in your browser, so your file stays on your device and the tool works offline once loaded.
Can I trim an MP3 without re-compressing it noticeably?
Trimming requires a re-encode, but exporting MP3 at a high bitrate (192 kbps) keeps the quality very close to the original. Choose WAV to avoid lossy compression entirely.
How precise is the trim?
You can drag the handles to within a fraction of a second and use the playhead to fine-tune. Press play to confirm the exact selection before exporting.
What can I make with this?
Ringtones, samples, sound effects, podcast clips, voice memos, lecture excerpts — anything where you need just a portion of a longer recording.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The waveform handles are touch-friendly, so you can trim on a phone or tablet as well as on desktop.
